MASKING

Just finished a job where I filmed Mickey Rooney and his wife Jan for some work I am doing for a client. Mickey was doing voice over for one of my productions so the video aspect was not needed, just the audio. However, my client was so excited by the video work I did he was wondering if I could use his face against a Blue Screen so that we could then place his face into some of the video we will be making of the same production. Aside from masking each frame to exclude the background of Mickey's hotel room, I don't know of an easier method. Does anyone have any idea's?
If you want to see a photo or two from the shoot, let me know your email address and I will gladly upload them to you. Don't know how to post a picture here without a ftp site.

Steve, sounds like an interesting project.

If you shot with a tripod you MIGHT be able to use difference mapping. Best case scenario would be that you have a shot of the empty room from the exact same camera position. Difference mapping would then let you "subtract" the background from your clip.

If you don't have a shot of the empty room, you might be able to fake it by using Photoshop to construct an empty room frame from several frames from your clip, and a little cloning work.

Difference mapping will work best if your shoot is in HD.
