Masking window not the same as final output

I've been using Vegas for years but this is my first post. I am currently using Vegas 7.0 and am using the masking and bezier tool in the masking window. I've noticed with 7.0 and earlier versions that a precise bezier mask in the masking window does not reflect the output in the preview window. It is usually off by a considirable amount and I have to use the preview window to make the masking corrections. Do I have some setting wrong in my preferences? I made sure my Pan & Crop was set to default so that doesn't seem to be the issue. I can continue to use the preview window to key frame the mask but it would be easier and more accurate if I could simply mask out the image in the masking window.

Thanks for the help.

Could you be more specific about what sort of descrepencies you're seeing? When I use bezier masking, I see absolutely no difference between the mask as it appears in the Pan/Crop window and as it appears in Preview. (Using V6.) Can't think of what preference or setting would interfere with that sort of thing, either.

Maybe you could provide screencaps of each window when they're at odds with one another so we can see an example.

Be sure to have the preview settings set to Best (Full).

Check sync cursor, maybe your preview and mask windows don't show the same frame.

Please try this

#1 - Activate the PREVIEW Grid - I have mine set at the default of 10x10 within Prefs>Video > Video Preview Display

#2 - Open Pan/Crop and CONFIRM you have your WORKSPACE "Grid spacing ALSO set at 10

#3 - Make a 4 POINT Mask - that is a rectangle - and adjust the 4 points so that they align with the GRID. I've made one that is ONE grid-point "in" in each direction. Now CHECK and see if this 8x8 Mask aligns WITH the WORKSPACE grid within Pan/Crop.

I get a mask that is 8x8 within Pan/Crop and 8x8 on the Preview, and on my External Preview. For me, for the MASK to be apparent I need to have an Event on a LOWER track for it to SHOW up.

I have just repeated this with a 6x6 and it too is spot-on.

Just where are you achieving these inaccuracies?

If you have time, will you please provide a visual tutorial on this? Thanks! I don't seem to understand what you're talking about (and lost on what to do).
