Massive Render time with SD !!

I am rendering a 10 movie in Studio 7.0, to MPEG 2. No big deal, usually. But this one has now been rendering almost 10 hours and is at 68% and show several more hours to go!! Anybody have a idea as to why this is happening? I have preferences set to "good". I am using 4 video tracks and 3 audio. I am mixing footage from a Canon G7 and old footage mpg 2. Nothing so strange. Yet instead of about a 30 to 45 min render it will have taken 12 hours to render! What happend? Thanks for your imput. Roger

I have never rendered mpeg2 files. Could that be it? Or maybe there is a virus scan or malware scan running in the background? Hit CTRL+Del, tab three and see what the cpu and memory use is like.
You may interrupt the rendering, restart Windows and see what effect it has.
Also, you may have put in several effects, with keyframes, then forgot about them, and so accumulated many things. Putting effects and transitions between mpeg2 files may cause this problem.
