Master surround buss FX insert other apps?

Was wondering from users that use other apps besides Vegas, if these other apps have the same ability as Vegas 5.0 to insert a surround compatible DX FX on the master surround bus?

Does Protools, Sonar, Cubase, Nuendo, Digital Performer..etc..etc. Have the ability to insert a DX multichannel plugin on the Surround master bus like Vegas?

Also, can you use the Vegas 5.1 FX's in these apps like the 5.1 Wavehammer, Track EQ, and Dither?

Thanks,
Red

It is unlikely that any other host will recogonize our 5.1 capable FX as such, as we more or less defined the standard for Vegas 5. It is based on common mechanism and was very simple to support. We did present the approach to other vendors - host and plugin.

Currently, there are no third party DX plugs that support the mechanism we support. VSTs do things very differently, and I don't believe that any of the wrappers will expose Surround VST plugins correctly.

Hi red,

I don't currently use other music apps, but I have seen Nuendo demo'd and it does indeed support 5.1 pluggins, on channels as well as busses if I remember correctly. Pretty sure they are in VST format though (given the parent company and all). I think the Steinberg stuff can run DX plugs, certainly Wavelab can but 5.1 wavehammer? I couldn't tell you that.

I believe Cubase SX supports 5.1 plugs too.
