Not hard to do (with AVC and mpg)... just get a blu ray burner and import directly from the disk (works best with Vista). Don't know about VC1 though.... haven't played with that too much.

Cool if that worked.
I have a Blu Ray recorder but the disc is not recognised. Could it be the lack of a software player? I even can't open the drive folders in explorer. Do you know that ?

Let me guess... you're using XP? (XP doesn't have the proper drivers)

You need UDF drivers for XP. You can TRY this... it works SOMETIMES, but I would back up your machine just in case.

Your best bet though would be simply to start running Vista which has the native support.

Yes, XP. I tried AMY-DFD to bring the BD to harddrive. That works. But Vegas denies to press the OK button to open that copy when I browse through the bins. Maybe it works when the rip is completed...

If you're talking about Commercial blu ray disks then it gets a bit more complicated... it's not exactly legal either.

I got a BD from our client to test if this would work.
We do a lot of DVD re-encoding for IP-TV or VOD. So in our case it's legal because we get the material from the content owner.
What is the difference between commercial blu rays and the kind of blu rays you thought we're talking about?

No.
Commercial disks are copy protected. Breaking the copy protection on any disk is illegal, so as long as you did not circumvent any copy protection and you have the author's permission then you are fine.

There should be a M2TS file in the STREAM folder on the BD disk. As long as it is a simplified M2TS file (by that I mean a single audio track, no subtitles...etc) then it SHOULD import to vegs with no issues. If it is not then I would THINK it to be more of a XP problem (lack of drivers)

With Vista I can certainly open one of my Blu Ray disks and import the M2TS file.
