Just thought I would post my findings for DVD Architect 5 users on Apple's bootcamp. I have found the Matrox CompressHD card to be an excellent and reliable product. I achieved amazing speeds H.264 file compression for iphone and bluray (down from 16+ hours on dual xeon Mac Pro to 2 hours 20 mins for a 3 hour DNxHD movie (1920 x 1080 25p timeline with 25p files from Canon HF100) exported from AVID MC 3.1.3 on Mac OSX 10.5.7 and compressed using the Matrox bluray 1080i preset in Apple Compressor with a bitrate of 15 Mbs.
As Matrox CompressHD users can't currently create 1080i Bluray Discs with Encore CS4 Mac and Roxio Toast's menus are not customizable, I tried authoring on two authoring apps under Windows Vista 64 Ultimate on bootcamp. Interestingly AVID DVD 6 (equivalent to DVDit ProHD) complained that the Matrox file was not bluray compliant and would need to be re-rendered! I then tried DVD Architect 5.0b which accepted the file without needing to be re-rendered, and accepted the ac3 audio produced by Compressor (again without needing re-authoring). I created fully customized menus (a main menu and chapter menu) and successfully burned a 1080i bluray disc. The quality is awesome and it played beautifully on a Sony BDP-350! Just thought those who were creating .264 BD-Rs might be interested. PS - I do not work for Matrox (I am just ecstatic with the reduced render times!)
