Matrox mpeg-2 I-frame codec crashes Vegas

Matrox mpeg-2 I-frame codec crashes Vegas pro 10, windows XP. When I try to render with the Matrox codec Vegas gives me an error that there was a problem with codec and then Vegas crashes

I was told by my client that I need to use this codec. It is for a video board system in an arena that uses a product called click effects.

Any help would be appreciated.

Potentially dumb questions but I'll ask anyway as it works on my XP system.
What bitrate are you using?
You are rendering this as an AVI, correct?

Lightfoot, I have a Matrox Digisuite codec pack that I got from a vendor that I can send you to see if it helps.
Click on my name to email me so that I can get your email address.

vendor told me not to use Digisuit codec pack. I downloaded the VFW Codecs, not sure what the difference is.

I can also download the Digisuit codec but not sure what to do here.

matrox codec causes sometimes vegas to not properly close, crash, and slowdown startup.

avoid it....

That's interesting. My vendor was a rep for Ross Video (pro switcher manufacturer) when I had an issue with a playback server for the local cable company.

malowz, I've had that codec on my machine for a few years now and never had any issues with it.
Lucky I guess :)

maybe you are using the 2.5 version if i recall, not the new one? cause the new one was released last year.

im talking about the new "pack":
http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/version1.0/

the old one worked fine. but the codec has limitations (like full-hd sizes), and the new one does not.

I just had a look at the exe file and it extracts to "Matrox VFW Sotware codec setup - version 7.1.0.3213".

I have been rendering with a frame size of 720 x 486 at the request of the customer. I just tried a render with a frame size of 720 x 480 and it rendered out just fine. Now what to do.
