Maximize DVD Quality

Ok from following a couple of threads I want to make sure I got this correct. To maximize the quality of the project under DVD Architecture Studio. I would:

1. Render the video stream and audio as separate files. I would render to MPEG 2 using the "DVD Architecture Video Steam" template. There is a template for standard 4:3 and widescreen.

2. I would then render the file again as a PCM Audio file.

3. I have two files for each video clip - I place them as objects into the DVDA workspace.

Questions:

1. Do I have put both files in the Media Pool?
2. Are there any sync problems?
3. How do I ensure that the right video file is attached to the right audio file?
4. Is it easier to render a clip to AVI and let DVDA do the work? Is there a loss in quality?

I do not mind doing the extra work, if it preserves the quality of the project. I will probably play around with it tonight and see how it works.

Thanks

I finished my first project last night with DVDA and everything went very well.

1) If you render your video and audio files with the same name (except extension), then you only need to select the video file and the audio will automatically be added. If the names are not the same, then you need to go to the link properties. There is a place for the video file path and the audio file path. The audio file path will be blank. You will then have to tell it what audio file to use.
2) I had no sync problems with my video.
3) See the answer to 1).
4) I see no advantage to doing two renders. Go ahead in VMS4 and render to the DVDA template. If brought in as a compliant file, DVDA will not touch it again. My guess is that they both use the same codec for rendering to MPEG2 anyway.

Thanks that makes the most sense. I have been having some problems with the "Burn to DVD" option (another post) which generates the two files. So I have just been rendering the video stream and audio separately.

thanks again
