MCE versus XP Pro

Every time I attempt to install Vegas 7.0 on a platform running MS Media Center Edition (MCE) the load attempt fails and informs me the serial number as being invalid. As a test to assure the software disk is not corrupted, I have installed and uninstalled Vegas 7.0 using the same media successfully on platforms running XP Pro. I am not sure if my internal MCE settings are incorrect or if Vegas, flat-out, is incompatible with MCE. Any thoughts out there?

In general, Windows Media Center Edition should be used a as "media center" and not a "media authoring" workstation. It has caused no end of problems with various video editing and authoring software from the time it first came out not just Vegas. If you check out the System Requirements page for Vegas you will find that Vegas works with:

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4, XP Home, or XP Professional (Windows XP SP2 required for HDV and XDCAM)

with no mention of MCE. In sort, if you want to do video editing, loose the consumer MCE and get a supported OS like XP Pro.
