mchammer_x64.dll Error

JB-Pangilinan wrote on 4/10/2021, 7:19 AM

Getting this error on my Vegas Pro 365 subscription installation:

ERROR -2147163964 occurred during installation

Module C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\vegas\Shared Plug-Ins Audio_x64\mchammer_x64.dll failed to register . HRESULT - 2147024704

Anybody encountered this? I already downloaded and repaired redistributables but still getting this error.

Using Windows 10 (Parallel M1 Macbook Pro)

The error may be related to the wave hammer audio plugin. Perhaps try a reset to default as per item 14 in https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/

A Google search re that error code mainly resulted in a whole lot of those dubious 'let us fix your dll problems'. Even worse, a YouTube post from around 10 years ago (Vegas Pro 11) in its demonstration included advice to disregard the alert in its suggested fix to its being a 'cracked' workaround.

I cannot reset to default because the error occurs during installation :(

By the way, thanks for the quick reply.

Can you move that dll somewhere and then reset?

No, because the installation is not successful. No Vegas folder is created and the file doesn't exist. :(

RogerS wrote on 4/11/2021, 4:55 AM

I don't understand how that could be possible. It has to be somewhere...

You showed the installation location above, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\VEGAS\Shared Plug-Ins\Audio_x64

I found it on my machine at that location and it says its Wave Hammer 5.1. Perhaps move it temporarily from that folder and try to reinstall and reset.

Not sure if this is an issue with virtual versions of Windows or why a dll would fail to register.

I also am wondering why that location is written in the error, when the file folder doesn't exist bec. the installation did not finish.

I am using an M1 Macbook Pro / Parallels. I don't know if this causes the issue.

The file folder exists if you have previous versions of Vegas installed, it doesn't appear to be version specific. I see the same audio dlls in a Vegas 17 install folder I have, too.

I don't have any previous versions of Vegas installed. I just purchased this Macbook and subscribed to the Vegas Pro 365. :(

I see. Does Parallels support x86 (32-bit) Windows on the M1?

Try running the installation program as an administrator?

You don't have a native Windows computer, I take it? If you can't get Vegas to work you should be able to get a refund. Final Cut X is a good option for Mac users.

Hi guys, wondering if you were able to figure out the DLL issue? I tried reinstalling the DLL, and downloading Visual C++ but no luck. @JB-Pangilinan I also have an M1 with Parallels. I'd prefer to run Vegas (which I ran on Bootcamp on my former Macbook).

Jonathan-Thomas wrote on 5/19/2022, 12:19 PM

@ Antonion we're in the same boat. This has been a disaster. I had an old iMac and updated to the M1 chip and found out Bootcamp discontinue and only Parallels support Windows on Mac.

Now, I find out Vegas won't install having that same error... C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\vegas\Shared Plug-Ins Audio_x64\mchammer_x64.dll failed to register . HRESULT - 2147024704.

Now, I have install Davinci Resolve and love it. It functions like Vegas but missing a lot plugged in that Vegas have.

AS a matter of fact, Davinci Resolve has taking some of what Vegas does and included into work flow.

Vegas needs to take a lesson on Davinci Resolve UI workflow.

Divide up the Color, Edit, Audio, Effects and Media Management as separate workflow windows.

With Vegas it's a clutter to continue to adjust the windows and icon are so small.

But, I still looking for a solutions to get Vegas Pro to run on Mac M 1 chip using Parallels.

@JB-Pangilinan @Jonathan-Thomas any luck after almost a year?

Buy a PC, quit playing with underpowered and overpriced macs. Problem solved.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)
