Media 100?

I just got a HDD with a bunch or AE files, pic files for graphics, and a "media" folder which has about 2 GB of unknown files (probably the ones Im supposed to work with)

I assume since at the top of the folder there is a folder called Media 100 Codecs Install.app that they are Media 100 files.

1. What app will run these?

How to convert to work in Vegas or Premiere (preferably Vegas)

I would ask whoever you got the HD from, what file types they are.
It does sound like a Mac/Media 100 thing as Mac usually defaults to 'Hide File Extensions'. The Mac knows what they are but a PC is lost unless you know & add the file extension.
(if it's a .jpg and you put that extension, the PC will now read it - .mov, .avi, .bmp, etc)
Big thing in a Cross-Platform environment is to always put the file extensions so this does not happen.

That Media 100 Codecs Install.app is Mac only. (You can tell by its extension .app)
It's there so you can install the codecs and be able to read the video files using the Media 100 Codec. I bet there are also Media 100 PC Codecs for download for those that need them.

I would look at the Files and use my best judgement. Usually for me, I've found that most files in my workflow w/ missing extensions are .mov Video Files kicked out by FCP. If this is true for you then you'll be able to see and possibly edit the videos... provided you have the right codec installed.

You will NOT be able to do anything with a Media 100 project file unless you have a Media 100 NLE but if you have access to a Mac you may be able to see what the other files types are.

I would go back to the source and have them export something useable <-- this is the conversion method to make them work in Premiere &/or Vegas.

Once upon a time Media100 was using a proprietary mjpeg codec. But that could easily have changed in the last 5 years.
