Media FX issues

I'm trying to adjust brightness and contrast on the first part of the clip but the timeline inpoints to adjust the contrast back to normal doesn't seem to behave. Everytime I make and adjustment the video in the preview window shows the currant setting and not the setting that I want it to look for that part of the clip. I even split the clip so that the adjustments that I was making would only occur on the part that I want. But the new clip seems to take on the adjustment as well as if the two clips, because they share the same title name, are as one. I then dragged from the explorer bin a copy of the same clip to another video track hoping that it would recognize it as a seperate clip. Again every adjustment I make it wants to change the other clip. (it doesn't effect any other titles) Do I need to make the adjustment that I want and then render that portion then re-drag a fresh look at the rest of the clip or what?

There are three (3) places where you can add a Video FX to a clip. You can add it to the Media in the Media Pool which affects all instances of the clip (and corresponds to what you might be seeing) or you can add it to a single video Event on the timeline where it will only affect that single event, or you can add it to an entire Track at the track header which affects all events on the track (this can be controlled with keyframes).

Where are you making this change?

If you only want to affect one event then add the FX at the event level. Also be sure you have the FX cursor parked at the beginning of the mini-timeline or where you want the change to occur so that a keyframe is created at the right place. Finally make sure you don't have the FX Bypassed in the preview window or else you will never see the change at all.
