media generator editing not working

Imogen wrote on 1/8/2009, 4:10 PM
I can grab the 'sample text' and place it in the timeline, but I cannot open the edit window to change the text at all. I have recently in stalled the 9b upgrade to the platinum 9 software.

I have reinstalled it again incase there was a problem, but I still cannot edit the text.

I have tried both the button on the frame and the 'Edit Media generator' on the drop down menu. Neither open any other window.

Suggestions?

Imogen...

I can't think of anything that would preclude being able to edit text. You will probably need to contact Sony's Tech Support. Obviously something is interfering with Vegas as you are trying to edit text. You'll need to either give them a phone call tomorrow or go to the Technical Support page on the website and click "send us your technical support question", fill out the form and send it to them. Just make sure you give them all (or more) information requested on the form. They typically answer those inquiries within 24-hours. I've had success using either approach in getting problems solved. Good luck. Let us know your progress.

I would guess it's one of two things:

1. It's docked in your docking area and you need to find the appropriate tab and pull it loose again.

2. You moved it off the screen. Try looking under the start bar or change the resolution of your screen temporarily to locate it and move it back to the middle.

I'm guessing Ed's right. It might be easiest to reset Vegas by holding down the Shift & Ctrl keys while starting it up. This will put all the windows and dialog boxes back to the factory defaults. It will also change all options and settings back too, so depending on how much customization you've done, you may have to spend some redoing it.
