Media Management

I try to learn best way of doing media management in VV.
Sometimes I have more than 1000 clips to edit. Now in the MediaPool I have no bins so I cannot order my clips there in folders.
Not sure what advantage I have at all using the MediaPool over using the Explorer-window.
Some more question there, but I remember it's not that long ago here was a quite good discussion about all that stuff. I tried to search for it but I could not find it.

Can somebody give me a hint how to do the search or where exactly I can find this topic here?

Marco,

I always use the explorer window so I can create the folders I need for organization. This is a known problem with this program and is rumored to be one of the areas of improvement in the next version. Personally, I have very little use for the Media Pool window until improvements are made.

Agreed. Personally i'd be just as happy to shut the thing off completely so it doesn't slow me down.

Yes, the media pool can become a monster when there are a lot of clips in it. I have been using only one bin and right-clicking and renaming each clip right after capture and using a prefix prior the new name. For weddings, I use c- for things in the ceremony, r- for reception clips, p- for photos, m- for miscellaneous clips, etc. This keeps them in some sort of order within the media pool so I can locate a section easily when I get ready to build the video tracks. I agree, though, managing media in Vegas is no walk in the park. I look forward to whatever revamp that's coming.
