Warning: I'm one of those "against MM"-people, so be forewarned.
Up until today I had not seen very much use for Sony MM, because I'm mostly doing this just for fun and for myself. No extensive library of stock footage or such.
Anyway, I just got a bunch of sound effect CD's very cheaply and combined with my existing stock, I found out that I have more that 6000 separate SFX-clips. I thought that this is the perfect moment to give MM another try because most of the SFX clips should be categorized with multiple categories, such as "Nature" and "Wild Animals" and "Africa", or whatever.
One solution is to use plain old directory structure but it is not perfect for all the cases.
OK, I downloaded and installed the MM, rebooted PC and fired Vegas. MM came up very nicely and I categorized a few clips just to get the feel for the tool. Everything smooth this far. Then I loaded my current project: nothing fancy, a few nested projects, 4 video and 6 audio tracks (Cineform HDV intermediates, 5.1 sound, etc. ). It complained about missing media (because I had arranged the SFX clips earlier). Pointed Vegas to correct direction, it found the clips - and died.
Tried a few times with same results. Tried leave the missing media off-line -> no help. Disabled MM -> all is well. Uninstalled MM -> everything is OK.
Maybe I'm not trying enough but for me it seems that MM is not worth the pain. Pity, because for the first time I really had a purpose for it.
My setup: Intel BadAxe mobo, Q6600, 4GB, Vista Ultimate. Nothing very special. I could register a support request for this but Sony is still munching my previous one of missing LFE meters in Mixer/Surround Master.
