Media Manager Use File And Folder Names - Not!

Happy Christmas everyone!

One of my holiday tasks is to get my files properly tagged. I just ran a test and tried tagging some video files with the "use file and folder names to apply tags automatically" option checked. I expected this to create tags based upon folder names but it appears to do nothing. Does it only work with Sony's own loops? Can anyone tell me how this works.

Thanks,

Kit

Sorry - just found the relevent info in the help file:

------------------------
Use file and folder names to apply tags automatically

"This option does not create new tags. The file path is compared to tag names already in the tag tree."
------------------------

Not very automatic if it is necessary to create the tags first. This is going to be a lot more time consuming than I thought.

I admire you for tackling this at all Kit - MM has always been in my Too Hard basket, even though I know it could be useful, given those many hours which you are now facing ...

Merry Christmas to you too Kit.

This is my biggest complaint with the Media Manager. You have to create the tags first and then if files are found in folders that have names that match the tags, they will be associated with them. So you have to duplicate your folder structure in the tag tree before you import your video. A tedious pain in the you-know-what. It would be great if Sony would make this work the way we all thought it should work (i.e., MAKE tags from folders).
