Yes, but . . . . if you know this method already - apologies
We do have a "process" to "get" groups f files from folders into its own "Named" folder just for Vegas. Maybe if you try this approach then you might like it.
1/- Do your Exploring in .. er Explorer .. or from Import Media
2/- Create & Name New Bins in vegas Media Pool
3/- Go back to Import media and then pick off the files you want to go directly into the New Bins you've created! - IF you've done a heaps of exploring, the "Recent" drop down menu will get you to the various folders you've explored so you can "pick-off" what you want!
OK - I think this is a tad better than whole folders 'cos I can pick off what I want. Importing whole folders might include stuff I don't want. Media HAS to be selected at file level - not folder level. But with a little thought, you might get something mmore than just the WHole Folder process. I think this is to guard against unecessary "unwanted" files.
Grazie, thanks for the suggestion. The "Recent" list partially addresses what I was looking for. I still would like to throw whole folders/subfolders in the media pool. Should be a drag and drop operation.
I gotta agree with Greg, on projects where I have to import many folders (like over 20) it's a bit of a pain to right-click to add each folder and then rename all of them. I only get 6 or 7 of these projects per year but I can see where someone that had to deal with it all of the time would certainly benefit from dragging and dropping entire folders.
BTW Grazie, thanks for the reminder about the "recent list", I keep forgetting about it...oh and happy belated B-day. It must be nice to be so well-liked that your buds here keep that post going for 3 days (and still going : )

Randy, thanks - Don't understand what people see in me ? . . .I'm an ole crouch really . . and the FARTING! Huh !! ! ! . . .hmmm .. I was thinking about making a website . .whadayah think Randy? Should I do it? Huh Huh ?!?! . . ..
Perhaps someone will make me one for me? h e eh eh eh . .. . . .. . ? !?! ?!
The folder thing here? Yup, can't agree more . . . We can do MS-Windoze type stuff . . Why not the old "Tug and Plop" for Folders too?
. .Ah . .just been reminded to use the Explorer and NOT use Media Pool. Meaning don't "bother" to plop whole folders into MP, you've got the folders already setup in Explorer, use and re-use from there? [ PeterWright ]
Yes, to add to Grazie's comments - lots of people seem stuck with the idea that you have to "import" stuff into Vegas before using it.
Vegas is superb at simply referencing material that is on the hard drive(s) so since way back I've got in the habit of organising all my footage, graphics, music, voice over etc, in Explorer, and using it directly from there.
I also capture whole tapes as a single clip, then use the Trimmer to create and save Regions which act as subclips and did so long before V5 added them as a feature in Media Pool.
I'm not saying anyone should stop using the Media Pool - just be aware that it's not the only way to work with Vegas, which i do all day every day.
Good point about Explorer guys but when you're having to "audition" hundreds of very short clips (like sports highlights) nothing beats using "auto preview" (in Media Pool) as opposed to playing all of those clips in Explorer. But hey, like I say, I only have to do this a few times a year.
