media pool/removing unused samples

In order to conserve HD space, I want to delete all those unused takes from my projects. Samplitude has a remove unused samples feature that I cant find in Vegas audio 2. Is there a feature that will do this for me, or do I need to go through and reference the media pool and delete them manually? Also, can I crop the files themselves automatically somehow?

Vegas doesn't have the function you mention built in. The easiest way I've found to achieve this is to first clean out your media pool, then do a SAVE AS and save the Vegas file to a new location, making sure to put a checkmark in the box that says "Copy All Media With Project". Then you can go back and delete the files in the original location.

This is much simpler if you have saved each project to it's own folder, of course.

As for editing the samples down, you can use any 2-track destructive editor - such as Sound Forge.
