Media timecode for .MP4 on Vista

Does anybody know what may be causing this problem?

I have XDCAM EX clips (.MP4) in a project (ingested through 'device explorer'). Now applying 'Sony Timecode' at the media level does not give the media timecode - it gives the event timecode. This is on Vista 32bit SP2, Vegas 9.0c.
The EXACT same project copied to an XP (32bit SP3) machine with Vegas 9.0c does show the media timecode - without any changes to the project. Project properties is set to DV PAL widescreen.

I have about 1200 clips from which I need to produce a timecoded tape for the client to edit from the timecode - the only way for me to keep track of this is by the media timecode which was continuous (and different eg 01:00:00:00 20:00:00:00 and 30:00:00:00for each of the three cameras.

I would be grateful for any input.

Peter

I have raised a problem report with Sony.

OK - it must be something with that particular project file.
I created a new project file on Vista and methodically applied the 'add timecode to media' to selections of the clips.
The media timecode is now displaying correctly.

I don't know if it was me or a sequence of actions in the original project file that caused the problem
