Melodyne Wierdness - Any suggestions?

I recently purchased the Melodyne VST plugin. I used it yesterday to clean up a vocal track in a 22 track Vegas audio project. After a good night's sleep I listened to the test CD again and decided I needed to reduce the level on the kick and bass tracks.

I started up Vegas today, and now, every time Vegas plays any section of the track that I modified in Melodyne, it freezes! One CPU reports 100% busy, and Vegas is locked up until I end it's process with Task Manager.

I have rebooted my PC, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Vegas and Melodyne. I can start a brand new project with Melodyne. But I can't play back the project I created yesterday!

If I remove Melodyne from the effects chain of the track, then it plays back with no problems. However, I lose all the pitch correction I did with Melodyne yesterday...

I've searched the forums here and at Celemony (Melodyne's creators) with no luck. Has anyone seen, and more importantly solved this problem? Please tell me I don't have to find and fix all those problems again!

I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0c (Build 260) and Melodyne VST plugin 1.0.4.2

Best Regards,

John.

Lots of struggles, but I've learned some things...

When Melodyne plug-in 1.0.4.x freezes playback in Vegas 8.0c (usually after closing Vegas and opening it again) try this work around.

Work around:
1. Start Vegas
2. Open the Audio Plug-In Chain
3. Save VST Bank As... (pick a file name)
4. Remove Melodyne plug-in from chain
5. Insert Melodyne plug-in to the same place in the chain
6. Open VST Bank (the one you just saved)
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for every track/bus that uses the plug in
8. Save .VEG file
9. Everything finally works like it should have in step 1.
10. Exit Vegas accidentally and cuss -- knowing you'll need to start at step 1 again.

Another hint, if you are using the melodyne plugin on multiple tracks, try to have one track start first before melodyne kicks in on the other tracks. On my system I get 50% CPU when the first instance of melodyne freezes (100% CPU on one of two CPUs), and in this state I can still close Vegas reasonably easily. However, as soon as the second instance of melodyne starts trying to play back, then the second CPU goes to 100% and now it takes a couple of minutes to get enough CPU attention to get Vegas to close.
