Memory Errors - Cannot use Vegas Video

I recieve this error when trying to open a project in Vegas Video 2.0h:

An error occurred while loading the project file CPA.veg

The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications.
---

That's the demo. I have closed everything else and excess processes and I still get this error. I can't actually work with Vegas until I overcome this error. It has worked before, but this suddenly happened.

Win2k, P3 550mhz, 128mb RAM, 8mb Matrox Video

Is Virtual Memory on?
You do know you can get 256mb ram for real cheap now do you?

How do I turn Virtual Memory on? I tried increasing the memory using paging. It worked, but then I got rid of 2.0h because of video artifacts. Now 2.0a doesn't work again.
