Memory issue when rendering

I'm using Vegas Pro 9. I'm getting a "low memory" error when trying to render a video that is less than 8 minutes in length. 7 tracks being used for audios, videos and a single still image. Never had this issue before and rendered videos that were much longer - 1 hour a few weeks ago.

Uninstalled and reinstalled. Only other clue, is that my .mov clips are not displaying/previewing in either the media bin or the timeline/track or preview window. Just gone black. Was working before attempting to render.

Have, of course, tried shutting down completely and restarting. Any ideas?

Have you checked your ram preview setting? Recently I had major crashing and realized my ram preview was set to 4000mb. Set it to 256 and Vegas became solid again. Also might want to try dropping the rendering thread to one.

How large are your JPG's? If you not going to pan and zoom into the JPG's make them smaller. Vegas 10 handles larger JPG's better.

Also restart Vegas before you start rendering.

In 10 I could replicate that any RAM preview would run up the # of megs for a render.

Quicktime uses more RAM because it loads QT, try converting them to AVI/mpeg (HDV) maybe?

Render parts and see if it runs out of RAM at a specific part, could be one specific piece of media causing the trouble.

Vegas needs to fully uncompress any still images and keep them in memory for processing. (Multiply the horizontal image dimension in pixels by the vertical dimension and then multiply by 3.) I have done projects with a bunch of large images and the 32bit version of Vegas gagged with an "out of memory" condition. Vegas-64 handles these projects just fine because it can use all the memory you've got.

Also, I avoid Quicktime whenever possible, it's a poorly written piece of junk software.

Did you update QuickTime?
