Reading another thread about xdcam files as a possible alternative to cineform for AVCHD transcoding I thought I would do a little test on my own. The clip is 2:45 seconds and the transcode was pretty much at the default settings. It didn't take too long.
To my surprise the playback jumped to life at full framerate! This is great. I started experimenting with changing the preview level. Framerate still full at best/full. I add a plugin. Still high 20's. Oh my goodness, we may have a winner. Then... it started getting choppy. I look at task manager and the memory usage line has gone from about 1.7 gigs to 9 .1 out of 12gigs. It's sitting steadily at that level and playback is lame in the low 10's at preview/auto and the audio is badly out of sync.
the stats:
project is 1920x1080 29.97.
mxf is 35mbits
OS is win7 64
V9 64
i7 920 cpu
12 gigs of ram.
I know win7 is non supported but is it some kind of memory leak or what?
thanks, William
