Menu screen loading

I have some transition pieces I did in AE between menus on my disc, for example a vinyl record flies toward the screen and the label is a selection of songs. I had to do this by making the transition a video (obviously) and the actual "freeze frame" of the record for selection, a .PSD file so I could place links on it.

Between the video to picture there is a good 3-4 seconds of black before it loads. I was wondering if maybe I could change it so it held the last frame while loading the picture instead of showing black? If not I guess I can fade in and out of black, but it'll look odd. Thanks.

Video and menus are placed in different positions physically on a DVD disk. You could try making the video a MENU (wo buttons) and have an automatic action to go to next, which is your freeze menu. That might speed things up.

Also motion menus can be set to freeze at the end.

Not quite sure I follow.

It basically has the menu, you click on song selection and the video transition plays and the end action of the video links to the picture "freeze frame".

Oh wait........it looks like maybe instead of a freeze frame I "can" use a video? I didn't do that initially because I couldn't make it work. Gotta run now but I'll check it soon.
