Menu size > 1GB, can't get it fixed.

I'm finally done making my DVD, I want to burn it so I can show it tomorrow. Only DVD-A says the total size of my menu's is >1GB .. a common problem so I've noticed. The problem is I still don't know how to get rid of it. The help menu says I should insert pages, rahter then using only menu's, but the only thing I can insert IS menu's. It says I should doubleclick a menu, then choose "page" from the insert menu. When I do that, another menupage is inserted. I've created a screenshot to clarify things...

How do I solve this problem??

The 1 gig file size limit is not just DVD-A's issue, it is the limit you can have for menus (total). Unless you have an authoring app that allows for button placement over a video stream (which DVD-A can't), you will have that limit. Generally speaking, the only time one would bump up to the 1 gig limit is if they have a lot of motion menus (ie menus using moving backgrounds). You can avoid large menu sizes by using a still background. By looking at your screen shot it looked like a motion menu, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I understand why there is such a limit, I want to know how I can fix my DVD so I can burn it. My background it a still image, it's true it contains a lot of movies, but I figure if you put those on pages which aren't considered as menu pages then I won't have a problem at all. The problem is I don't see any option of inserting any pages other then menu pages.... is this true? And if so, how do you usually solve this? If you have >4GB of data you have to be able to place this on something other then menu pages in order for it to work.

I think you're confused. You don't put MOVIES on menus - you put POINTERS TO MOVIES on menus. The movie, itself, will NOT be on the menu.

ok, and just how do I do that? I've just used the insert command when I was on a menu page...

You have a menu visible on the screen. You click on the MPEG file in the explorer screen and you drag it to the menu. This will create a title and icon that is a pointer to the movie. You can then change the title and/or icon as desired but it is just a pointer to the movie.

Can you post a screenshot of your Optimize DVD window (File -> Optimize DVD)?

Based on the screenshot you posted already, my immediate guess is that you're generally doing okay -- the menu showing there is pretty clearly a still image, so that menu's probably not a problem. But your Optimize DVD window may give a clue if any of the other menus have too much data.

When Help says "insert a page," it's referring to a menu page. There's no other kind of "page" in a DVDA project.

If you having buttons with motion in them (ie a button with a small clip representing the chapter point it will jump to), then eventhough the background is a still picture, it will be rendered out as a motion menu/graphic. jetdv has given you some pointers on how to make a button that just points to your video clip/chapter, and avoid turning your still background into a motion menu.
