Mercalli

Has anyone tried the new Mercalli video stabilization program by ProDad specifically with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 7? I received an email stating that they had made a verson that was now compatible with Sony Vegas 7.x and 8.x.

I have been using ProDad's Adorage and heroglypth packages and was interested to know if this new Mercalli works with Movie Studio as well. I sent ProDad an email and they suggested that I download the free trial of Mercalli and give it a try with VMS.

I installed the trial version tonight but could not get the plugin to work. Did I do something wrong (a very distinct possibility) or did I get my answer and it does not work?

Chris

This is a topic for the ProDAd forum, I guess...

I have VMS 8.0c and Full Vegas 7.0.

Just tried the proDAD Mecally trial plugin - and it seems to work in both versions.

Normally I use Deshaker and will probably stick to that as it works very well for my normal deshaking purposes.

Thanks Ritsmer. I guess I was secretly hoping for something other than "operator error" to explain the problem. I guess I will have to try it again and see if I can get it to work.

Ritsmer. You say that Mercalli works with VMS 8.0c. That is strange since a Vegas script is part of the plug-in and VMS does not support scripting. Can you test it once more in VMS?

Hi Joran.
Lazyness is a bad thing. What I did was test it under Vegas 7.0 and saw, that it worked there.
Then I started VMS with the same videoclip and went into FX for that clip and saw, that the proDAD (Mercalli) plugins were present - and from this I assumed, that it worked...
Now I tested it, and you are right: I can see the plugin - but when I want to use it, it does not work.

Sorry - and my apologies for the former misinformation :-)

Thank you Ritsmer for taking the time to clear this up.
