Thanks Dexcon,
I pulled the trigger on the 20% off because I use Mercalli a LOT. I get lots of shakey footage from family and friends and Mercalli is a lifesaver for my videos I do for them.

Grazie,

Just downloaded the v4 trial, and what I couldn't repair in my jerky zoom clip using V3 (or anything else, for that matter) is now a perfect, creeping zoom.... A marvel!

If only I had the $2xx to spare :( Or, If I could borrow the full version for this particular, single video. Oh, well :)

Piotr

PS. Oh, and without any border, too!

Piotr, yes. It is a very fine piece of s/w. I've been kickin' the tyres for 3 days and just bought it. The creepy zoom is well . . . creeping.

I've been putting the output out through VP and checking the Levels.

Cheers

"The creepy zoom is well . . . creeping."

Knowing you Grazie - and your British-English sense of humour - I bet there is something more to the above that I could possibly follow :)

Anyway, for the clarity of my own Polish English, I edited my original message...

Nah Piotr. Nothing about your use of English. Just me word playing.

I use the plug-in (V2?) quite a bit. I didn't install V3 SAL due to the K-lite Codec requirement. For those who installed V4 SAL with the required codecs, how are things going?

Sitting on the fence . . .

See Peter Duke's post of 12 December above. This and some of the earlier posts suggest that tide K Lite installation is not necessary,

Kimbo - installed and doing perhaps 30 odd snippets and it is a pleasure to use. Just getting to grips with the multiple sections of a piece of Video and thence combining into ONE file.

My guess is that Mercalli does not come with any codecs whatsoever, not even plain vanilla SD MPEG2.

You must therefore install or already have installed system wide codecs, such as ffmpeg or even K-Lite if you are game.

Anybody tried the denoise feature yet?
Richard Jones wrote on 12/14/2014, 8:42 AM
I've just installed Mercalli 4 but without including the codes on offer only to find that these (or some of them at least) are needed to make the thing work properly. (Argh!)I've been trying to find a way of adding these codes but so far without success (Double Argh!). Any ideas from anyone would be welcome before I ask ProDad for help tomorrow?

How about uninstalling and reinstalling, and opt in at the point where the codecs are offered?
Kimberly wrote on 12/14/2014, 11:20 AM
Thanks Grazie!

What to do, what to do. Wish there was a V4 plugin.

Install Merc and let them install their video codecs. They are private DLLs installed for Merc use only.
MikeyDH wrote on 12/14/2014, 5:41 PM
I downloaded the trial and didn't install the codecs. It won't import AVCHD. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled with the codecs. I can now play.and see what the fuss is about. My question is if it is trialing all of it's features.
GeeBax wrote on 12/14/2014, 8:48 PM
Can't say for V4, but V3 simply produced a split screen showing stabilised and unstabilised result with Mercalli logos on it. Otherwise it appeared to do everything the paid version did.

GeeBax: "Otherwise it appeared to do everything the paid version did."Of course you do get a watermark-free render with the PAID version.

I asked ProDad whether there was anyway of downloading the codec package separately and received the following standard reply (presumably from their FAQ):-

Video can‘t be loaded.

I'm wary about this as they both refer to 32 bit so think I'll probably go down the route of uninstalling and re-installing Mercalli.

This is all out of date.

Mercalli from version 3 does not use system codecs more.
Only own codecs to be installed and used.
By installing Mercalli and the Mercalli codecs nothing is changed in Windows.

All themes for k-lite are very old and do not apply to Mercalli 3 and 4.
Richard Jones wrote on 12/15/2014, 9:13 AM
I've just had another note from ProDad which suggests that an Uninstall, reboot and Re-Install is the best way to go to load the necessary codecs.

"Mercalli from version 3 does not use system codecs more."

Yes it does. See my post above re installation of ffmpeg codecs. If you don't have system codecs, nothing works.
JeanMovies wrote on 12/16/2014, 12:33 AM
This is a big misunderstanding.

FFmpeg is no system codec.
FFmpeg is installed ONLY for Mercalli. This can be checked easily.

Mercalli does not use system codecs;

JeanMovies +1
All ProDAD's products use FFMpeg - several libraries (DLL-files) in the program folder.

BTW, here you can purchase the latest Mercalli with 30% discount: Mercalli V4
GeeBax wrote on 12/17/2014, 1:38 AM
It is now 17 days since I contacted ProDAD to ask why Mercalli could not steady the material I am working on.

It seems the request was passed on to someone in Germany and the response from them has been deafening silence.

Despite repeated requests, I get no response.
