Merge (Not Group) Separate Audio Tracks

I have two separate audio tracks that I want to merge into one track. In other words, there are multiple video events with a different audio track associated it. The tracks won't "step on each other". When there's audio content in one track the other track is blank and vice versa. It looks like a checkerboard with only two rows in the timeline, if that's any help. The reason is I want to add an audio envelope that applies to the merged audio track but still enables me to work on the separate tracks later. I don't want to double my work with two separate envelopes, as there are about 50 separate events.

Is there a way to do this? I haven't found any comments or articles on this on the web, so I assume it's really easy or really hard. Any help is appreciated.

Can't you just "render to a new track" and mute the source ones?

Since it is important to keep both tracks separate as well, send both audio channels to a bus and then apply the audio envelope on that bus.

Just press "B" to see the "Master" audio bus and you can add the envelope there. Or you can go to Insert - Audio Bus and then change the output of both tracks to "Bus A" and add the envelope there.

you could also use an adjustment track above those 2 tracks

Hi,

Did you try selecting all events on the track and then dragging up or down?

That's the simplest solution, and I should have seen it right away. Of course, my brain is slowly (rapidly) draining away these past few years. Thanks for a simple and elegant solution.

Also, thanks for all the other suggestions!

You're right, I thought there was an adjustment track for audio too. My bad.
Having said that, it would actually be a good idea.

It was was difficult explaining what I wanted to do. After the merge, I wanted to keep the ability to just down an event out of the overall timeline, adjust the sync, and slide it back in. This was a video with severe sync problems.

I'd put off editing it for 5 years until the client (non-paying of course) finally got impatient enough to insist (damn clients). It eventually got edited from 120 minutes down to 60 after I eliminated the many parts that couldn't be saved (about 50) and ended up with about another 50 events, each of which had their unique sync problem. I put it off for 5 years because I knew it would be an onerous job, especially if it was for free.

Thanks again for the help.
