merge two VF files ??

I have invested time in editing two video files, separately.
Now it turns out we need to combine them into one video file.

adding the video file#2 itself to VF#1 is easy

question, how do I merge all the editing work, splits, multi-track audio and video overlays etc, from VF#2 into VF#1

markers can be renumbered, or I can just delete the markers from VF#2
its the track edits that I want to preserve

tried the easy way (open VF#2, select all, copy)
but they are lost when I close that file and open VF#1

note that all the track work has to be shifted relative to the placement of video file #2 in its new position in VF#1

Thank you in advance!

Assuming it works the same as the pro version:

1. Open Vegas TWICE - once for p1 and once for p2
2. Select everything in p2 and COPY (CTRL-C)
3. Move to P1 (do NOT close p2), put the cursor in the right place, and PASTE (CTRL-V)

That should do it for you.

I can attest that this worked fine in Video Factor 2 and Movie Studio 3. I haven't ever used the newer versions, but i can't imagine SONY would have removed the ability.

One thing to keep in mind is that this won't copy any of the track settings. Anything in project 2 that you set up in the track headers won't be transferred when pasting into project 1. I'll have to experiment to be sure, but i'd guess that track motion either won't copy or will be messed up too.

Thank you. This tip saved me a lot of time.

The track edits came thru fine.
Lost the Markers, and track sound adjustments, but that's minor, easy to re-enter.

using Vegas Platinum.

SR,
When you say sound adjustments are you talking about envelops?
I don't know about Vegas Platinum, but when I copy and paste between projects, if I have "lock envelops to events" checked, it brings those over as well.
Its one of the icons on the toolbar next to ripple.

Hope it helps,
