MIDI Sync and my Triton

Okay....here's my problem. I'm trying to run Vegas 4.0 as a master and my Korg Triton as a slave to record audio via a MIDI sync. Basically, I'm trying to sync them together via MIDI and record audio into Vegas. I have my MIDI coming from the In of my Triton to the Out of my soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile 2496). I set up the MTC trigger under the options tab, and Ive set up all of my sync options the the MIDI out of the soundcard under the prerferences tab. I've even set up my Triton to receive external MIDI commands.....Alas, when I press play or record, nothing happens. What in the world am I doing wrong?!? I've seen this performed by someone using Vegas 3.0 so I know its possible...I'm just totally lost. Can someone....anyone....HELP ME!

First I believe you will want to use MIDI clock in Vegas and not MTC, I'm not sure the Triton accepts MTC (MIDI Time Code) but I'm sure it receives MIDI clock.

Next I can't imagine what you set in the Delta Control Panel for MIDI, there isn't anything but internal X-tal (which it should be set at) and SPDIF.

Sorry, after re-reading your post I think you were referring to Vegas's Preferences when selecting the AP's MIDI Out, that would be correct, so ignore the italicized line above.

In the Triton you need to go into the MIDI options and set it to "External" or similar (I have a Korg M3R and used to have a Karma but not a Triton).

Then you should be able to set Vegas to Generate MIDI Clock > click play on the Triton, the Triton should wait for the MIDI Clock signal, then click Record in Vegas, after setting up the track/s to record of course and the Triton should begin playing.

Hint; I would set Vegas's BPM (File > Properties > Ruler tab) to the project's tempo so measures line up correctly.

Please let SF know about this, Ive had the same problem with a customer with a triton. It just would not sync either as master or slave. No problem in vegas 2 or 3, but no dice at all in vegas 4

Thanx mjhing....this worked PERFECTLY (and in the immortal words of Family Guy's Quagmier...."All Right!") Anyway, I didn't have to press play on the Triton, as soon as I pressed record in Vegas, the Triton started and Vegas recorded. Thanx again!
