Mini-Dv cap to Digital 8 tape

Hello All-
I'm attempting to do a live capture from my VX 2000 into a Sony Digital 8 cam via firewire. Trying to go directly onto digtal 8 tape and avoid capturing to the pc or mini-dv first. Seems like I've been able to do this in the past with menu tweeks in the Digiatl 8 cam but can't get seem to make it happen....

Put both into VCR mode, fwire cable between, turn off AV->1394 in D8. Press play in DV, record in D8.

Make sure the D8 is in VCR, not Camera, mode. Make sure the VX2000 is set to pass-thru the signal. I don't remember exactly which menu selection this is.

Farss Thanks for the input but I'm trying to output to the Digital 8 tape while I'm capturing a film transfer with the VX2k in record mode
