If/When you import media through the dialog rather than drag/drop, if there are incompatible files in the chosen folder, DVDA 5b will crash.
Background:
Vegas/DVDA like a special type of mpg2 file -- the m2v extension is commonly used for mpg2 video-only files, while mpg normally indicates video + audio multiplexed. When .m2v mpg2 video is multiplexed into .mpg, extra data is added (besides the audio) that Vegas/DVDA use. In practice Vegas encoded mpg2 using the DVDA templates will work in most other software if de-muxed 1st, regardless there is no audio in the file to start with. Regular mpg2 video [.m2v] files muxed without audio work in Vegas/DVDA -- DVDA will import .m2v, but takes much longer & doesn't work nearly as well during project development.
What happened:
I finally got around to playing with a Womble app [pretty cool BTW] I picked up from GOTD... Video-only output uses the .mpg extension [like Vegas], but the files are incompatible with Vegas/DVDA. Vegas will ignore them as if they were .m2v. If there happens to be one of these files in a folder along with the video &/or audio you're after, DVDA 5b crashes. Solution = rename the Womble .mpg video-only files, or put them somewhere else.
