Missing audio in m2ts, Vegas 22

Audio tracks in .m2ts video files rendered in earlier versions of Vegas didn't work. These files are not loaded with sound or the sound is quiet/blank.

I rendered a new test file with the same preset on another computer:

Once I install the older Vegas 20, which is without any problems, the files start loading correctly also in the new Vegas 22 (on the same PC).

Probably some codec issue - the files are rendered in Sony AVC (as source file for Bluray for DvdArchitect).

Can anyone confirm the same problem (Vegas 22.0 Build 194)?

Thanks

Are you on Win11?

It plays for me on Win10, although why does VP20 play it for you, maybe VP20 used internal licensed AC3 codecs built into VP20, but VP22 did not use licensed codecs and relies on system codecs which Win11 doesn't have. I can't see that other thread right now, I had thought it was to do with 5.1 AC3 not playing in win11, maybe it affects all AC3 stereo and 5.1

If it wants a system codec you may be able to install your own AC3 codec, this apparently works for Premiere users https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/dolby_ac_3ac_4_installer.html

So it is probably same problem as you both mentioned. Thank you!

This is a fresh install of Windows 11. VLC plays the files without any problems, the default windows player plays them without sound.

I installed "Microsoft Dolby AC3 Installer 10.0.26100.1" and it's ok.

However, in my opinion, Magix should solve this, because the current situation means that Vegas 22 is not compatible with Windows 11! I don't consider AC-3 to be something outdated, I still receive video recordings from cameras that record to m2ts with ac3.

@martr VEGAS remains fully compatible with Windows 11 but Windows 11 took away AC3 decoding (probably to cut licensing costs and it's not used as much as it used to be).

You can see a response from a lead Magix employee here in the thread linked to above: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/no-audio-and-no-rendering-possible-with-m2ts-files-in-win11-24h2--147963/#ca930579

@martr In the MS page linked in the other thread it appears MS are hoping computer manufacturers will fill in the gap.
