Missing Audio when I create my DVD

Hello everyone - I'm new to Sony so please excuse me with this post.

I had a video from my JVC hard disk camcorder that I rendered with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. I had trouble with rendering the whole video - it was 45 minutes long. It would hang so I split it up into 4 parts.

After I rendered each part I created a video compilation in DVD Architect 4.5. I added the video to the compilation - all four mpeg-2 parts. Then I added the audio to go along with all four parts that came from rendering the video. They are ac3 files which I'm not familiar with.

In the timeline view it shows both the video and audio in there. When i hit preview current it plays with the video and the audio. When I hit preview disc it plays with both as well. Everything looks good.

So, I click the make the dvd and burn it to the dvd. It burns it but when I put the dvd in a player or in my computer there is no sound.

Any clue what I'm doing wrong? I have Windows 7 if it makes a difference...

Thanks in advance.

fyi - I have windows 7 64 bit if that makes a difference. I also renamed the mpeg files and did not rename the audio files. Would that make a difference?

Not counting the file extensions, the audio and video files need to be named the same.

I'm going to kick myself in the head if that is the reason the audio isn't there.

Thanks tididit

The correct type of audio has to be selected in project properties.

Changing the audio name AFTER adding files in DVDA may not get picked up.
Try removing then re-adding the video, and if the audio has the same name and location it should arrive ok.

The audio was listed as the AC-3 stereo in the properties.

I tried going back to all my original stuff and re-creating without changing the name this time and it still didn't work.

I installed the software to my old desktop (2 years old with XP) and tried a different DVD+R disc. I used my saved project and I just burned it at a slower speed (8x) and it worked.

So, if anyone else is having this problem it seems like it maybe was one of these issues: something to do windows 7 (I have a new dell laptop XPS), maybe I didn't have the newest driver for my dvd drive, maybe it was the disc type I previously tried, or maybe you need to burn it at a slower speed.

Thanks for all that responded - appreciate your time.
