Hi, I cannot seem to locate the correct 'Capture Prefs' Window. The one I have found only shows me general, disk management and device tabs. I also seem to be missing Advanced capture, Capture and print to tape. Any suggestions please!
There's two ways of capturing in Vegas.
For DV you use an external program Vidcap which has the tabs you're looking for. For HDV / SDI you use an internal function. You seem to be using the latter.
But yes, I was kinda poking our friend in that direction. It IS his first post here. I went to a concert at Knebworth . . back in the day . . think it was Muddy Waters?
Thanks, guys. Muddy Waters is on of the few who didn't play Knebworth! Still struggling here - we've moved on to importing and have just posted a new problem... We're using a EX1 camera, therefore we're HDV rather than DV right? It is seeing the Device via USB, but won't import. VB, Henry
"1981/2 THE JAZZ YEARS: Ella Fitzgerald, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Sarah Vaughan, BB King, Jimmy Cliff, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and many many more... Attendance 50,000 over a few days."
Anyways, I knows, 'cos I was one of the 50,000 that went!!!
You've just proved I'm having a bad day - of course he was there - now I think of it, there's even a photo of him with me standing in the background! Shows how addled my brain is trying to figure out Vegas... Cheers, Henry
If you wish, Henry, I can come up the M1 and assist! - Subject to the nonsense at present around Luton and Hemel - arrgghhh . . - I could be there by . . oooo .. in the next 45 mins?
Vegas will not directly import video from the EX1!
1) You need to dump the cards, intact, to a hard disk.
2) Install Sony's Clipbrowser.
3) Use the Clipbrowser to convert the mp4 to mxf.
4) Drag the mxf files straight onto the Vegas timeline.
You can playout the cards over the firewire port and possibly get Vegas to capture that as HDV. I've not tried this and don't know of anyone whose done it either. It's quite unnecessary, pretty pointless and it'd only work with SP clips.
