Missing information in documentation.

Using Vegas pro 12, I cannot find help
- using F1 and it's interactive window
- using the "vegaspro12.0_manual_fra.pdf" file.

Information I try to find is not included in those 2 methods used to find information

This is not the first time I cannot find information. I suppose help is not well enough documented.
May be english help files are OK.
For example, I cannot find help about "Nombre de tranches" :

Help says "click the ? button but it is inactive because of the above window being open.

Does soemone have a complete documentation of Vegas Pro 12.
Any link to download it ?

What does this parameter "Nombre de tranches" do ?

Thanks in advance.

From the "?" button, the English version of VP12 states:

Number of slices: Drag the slider to adjust the number of slices that are created in your rendered file.
A slice is a portion of the video frame, and some hardware decoders require specific numbers of slices. Choose the setting that matches your destination playback device.

Not enormously helpful I'd say. But follow this link to earlier postings on the forum which give a better explanation:

J'espere que ces 'postings' vous aider.

Thank you Dexon.

I have installed the english version on my seben virtualbox machine.
I could not use the "?" button on "Number of slices", like on the french version.
Moving the mouse above the ? button, waiting for a while .. following information appears :
What's this help (Shit + F1)

Above "Number of slices", I did Shift+F1 ... and information appeared.
Back to the french version ... same behaviour.

That was a hidden function of the integrated help. I learned that today.
Very useful.

Thanks a lot.

Slicing a video frame divides into separate regions for parallel encoding/decoding. On some machines, a sliced video can be dramatically faster to decode than an unsliced one -- For example, the Sony PS4 has multiple H.264 decoders, so encoding with a slice count that matches the decoder count optimizes playback performance.

However, slicing a video usually increases the compressed size or reduces quality for the same size. That's because each slices is encoded separately so motion or similarities across the slices aren't exploited.

I'd recommend just leaving the slice count at the default unless you're targeting specific hardware for playback, or you are rendering video for games.
