By default it is the Master Volume meter just to the right of the preview window. If you had the Loudness Meter there, you would have had to have deliberately placed it there.

To recover the Master Volume meter, go to View/Window Layouts and in the context menu that opens, click on 'Default Layout'. That should return the window layout ot its default layout, including the Master Volume to the right of the preview window.

If it was the Loudness Meter, go to View/Window and in the context menu that opens, check the Loudness Meters item. then while holding down the Ctrl key, move the Loudness Meters window and dock it to the right of the preview window.

Brilliant, and so simple. Your Default Layout suggestion fixed it. Seems obvious now, but software like Vegas have so many features that unless you're an expert user it can be difficult to find the grain of sand you are looking for. Thanks very much Dexcon
