By any chance is your drive a Toshiba SD-R6012 or are you working on a Sony Vaio laptop? I get the same error on my machine when attempting to burn the test project.

I am having the same problem... Where you able to ever find a resolution, or way around this that allowed you to use Architect 1.0 for burning DVD's?

Thanks.

I called Sony and they gave me fixes that worked. I tried more than 1 at the same time as I was pressed for time, but here's what I did. They gave me 3 suggestions. 1. try a different brand of disc. 2. Change the location of the temp file by making a new folder (I named mine "temp2") and make that the location of the temp file it needs for whatever reason, 3. download new firmware for my drive. I didn't download new firmware. I changed the temp file and used a different brand of disc, both at the same time, so I'm not sure which one did the trick. As an additional bonus, this also seemed to clear up tjhe problem of the drive not showing up. It was #1 or #2 that fixed the problem.

I'm curious if, when changing to a different disc, if you changed from -R to +R.

I experienced the same error with my TDK 8x drive. Was using TDK -R media at the time. Switched to +R media and problem went away.

Dear Sony,

More and more people are having trouble using "-" media with DVDA2 (and 1). This issue now appears to apply to TDK, Pioneer, Plextor (that would be me), and your very own Sony drives. Can you imagine how happy your loyal customers would be if you fixed this issue? And how many more friends we would convince to buy your products if we could add this claim to our "Vegas/DVDA Rocks" speech? Can you imagine how happy if it turns out that I'm not stuck with a 100 disc spindle of "-" media that I can't use?

Thank you

I have this same "message missing" error problem, yet the error comes up when I am simply rendering the project to a folder and not burning. (I never burn with DVDA but use Veritas "Record Now" instead.)

So I'm curious why people have concluded that this problem is somehow related to DVD media when the same problem is happening to me before either a DVD-R or DVD+R has even entered the picture.

I, too, get this message, with VV5/DVD2A and a Sony DW18 drive. I only get it at burn time, and only with "-R" and -R/W" disks. "+R" and "+R/W" disks work just fine.

Sony, notice I said a "Sony DW18" drive? A little help here, please?

p.s. My Sony drive works with all disk types if I use Veritas RecordNow to burn with.
