Mixdown Problems

i'm not able to mix down to 24/48 files.
i get an error message about an invalid page fault and vegas
closes.
it is soooo sad.
i die a little each time it happens.

here are some possible reasons/culprits:
i'm using one 5400 EIDE hardrive (12 gig).
my computers are networked.
there are conflicts between Vegas and my soundcard (Frontier
Dakota).
my bad karma.

i am able to mixdown to 16/44.
but this doesn't help me in my quest to stay 24 bit till the
bitter end.

other oddities: upon start-up it takes forever for vegas to
give me the flashing cursor.
the program will come up, and the logo will shine and all
that but then it will just freeze for 3-5 minutes and then
it will click on and give me a flashing cursor and then i
can work regularly (until i try to mixdown to 24/48).
this is also soooo sad.

anyone have any ideas as to what the F*** is going on?

In Particular, is there anyone that is sailing smoothly with
Vegas and Dakota?

peace, pops

Well...smoothly isn't exactly the word for it, but Dakota is behaving
pretty well in the mixdown area. I have done many submixes and final
mixes to 24/44, but not to 24/48. I am using two SCSI Barracuda's at
7200.

However today I did notice a problem when I had the mixer open
displaying a bunch of meters while I submixed to 24/44. I got page
faults about 3-4 minutes into the piece. When I closed the mixer the
problem went away. Maybe it couldn't handle the graphics load??

SMPTE sync is the horror of the moment, but I don't think it is
Dakota's fault. Maybe 1.0a will work.

No problems here with booting the program.
