Hi Ron. Until someone else comes along, the only way I know how to address that problem is to right click the audio-choose switches-click normalize. Let us know if that helps. Cin

Hi Cin

I tried using 'normalise' and that helped a bit. I also played around with EQ and that also improved things. Not perfect but much better.

TBH I don't understand the audio side of editing as well as video. There seems to be much more in the way of help and tutorials on the picture side as opposed to sound but I think audio is as important as video in a movie. Anyone know of any good tutorials on audio?

Thanks again

Ron

Hi Ron

Nice to hear that some one else use the IXUS's.
I think I have had more or less all of them - for the time beeing I have two IXUS 800is which are reliable and fast and very handy when you mostly do family and holiday videos.
Just wanted to tell you about the Neat Video plug in which surprisingly well removes the digital noise - specially from medium to low light video clips - and makes your IXUS clips look like recorded with a 5 digit dollar cam.

As to the sound problems: I have never had any problems with the sound from the IXUS's - always clear and crisp.
If you hear the sound Ok in Windows media player, but not in Vegas then it is a codec problem. I have all years with IXUS's used the MJPEG codec from Morgan Multimedia. It's fast and reliable.

Hi ritsmer

I've had the IXUS 850 for about a month and I'm well impressed. I particularly like the wide-angle lens (=28mm), OIS and low light capability.

I think you may have good point about the codec. From what I've read on other threads, Vegas doesn't come with an MJPEG codec, so the fact I can open MJPEG files in VMS means i must have picked one up from somewhere (Photoshop Elements 5?). I'll give the Morgan codec a try tonight.

Thanks

Ron

I tried the Morgan codec and preview certainly seems better.
However, I now think my audio problem may have been hardware/driver related. I played aroungd with a few settings and it went away.

Thanks for your help.

Ron
