.MOD files not recognized

As already noted in passing in a couple of earlier threads, Vegas does not recognize .MOD files in the Explorer unless you choose the "All Files" option. However it has no problem with using them. In our case, these files come from a JVC SD camcorder.

A quick work around is to simply change the extension to .mpg

Question to (esp. to Vegas dev team): any easy way to get Vegas Pro to recognize these files?

And please add .MOD files to the next Vegas update.

Thanks!

I recently had reason to deal with .MOD files from a JVC camcorder. I dragged them directly to the timeline. No problem.
Given the serious problems some people are having with Vegas, I don't think I want to clutter the development team's world with little things like this.

".MOD" is not a legitimate extension.

JVC just wants you to use their software.

Says who?

I've dealt with .mod files a fair bit (student projects) and, like tididit, I just dragged them directly to the timeline.

Maybe .MOD's parents, .MOM & .DAD were never married.

it IS a legit extension, it's just JVC is using it & it confusing things.

MOD's were sampled music files. Think midi but each file could contain it's own instruments. Pretty sweeeeeet. :)
