mode(s) to use for music video (Canon HV20)

I am getting an HV20 very soon. I am going to be filming a music video for an indierock/emo band so I definitely want some artsy look to it. The 24p thing sounds great and all, but I understand about the pulldown you need to do to make it true 24p etc.

Since I'm new to this camera (don't even have it yet), I won't ask specifics cause I don't know enough yet to ask intelligent questions about it.

But if you were going to film a music video, with lots of outdoor footage in wooded areas, lots of slow-mo sequences, and a lot of zoomed in close on an object then shifting focus to objects in the background, what mode would you use, and what properties would you use for editing in Vegas?

I understand there are a lot of options, but I'm just looking for some advice on a good place to start until I have the time to experiment with all my options.

thanks!

Kip

I'd like to add another comment about the 24p thing. I'd rather not right away get into that pulldown stuff, so I'm looking for advice on what Canon Mode / Vegas Project Setting would be a good compliment to each other without doing anything other than capturing my footage and getting right into editing.

I would use the CINE mode, which will reduce sharpening and contrast (giving you a little more dynamic range to work with). You can boost both of those in Vegas later, if you want.

BTW, there's a very active forum related to the HV20 at http://hv20.com You'll be able to get lots of info on the HV20 there, plus some of the guys edit on Vegas.

Thanks, I started browsing around hv20.com yesterday as well.

So you'd use Cine mode, but would you also just shoot at full HD settings... which is??? 1440x1080i? still new to all this HD stuff and don't even have the camera yet. :)
