Monitoring what's Recording

nothing workable as come up yet. here's my equpiment/perdicament!:

-delta 44 into computer with winXP
-Vegas 4.0
-M-Audio studiophile monitors
-reciever, used as a headphone amp
-also have a behringer mx802a mixer (crap..I try to stay away from it!)
now, as it currently is:
Patchbay/Router controls set to -
*HW OUT 1/2 set to Monitor Mixer
*HW OUT 3/4 set to WavOut 3/4

*OUT 1/2 are going to my L/R monitors. With this, I am able to control the volume of the monitors through the delta control panel.
*OUT 3/4 are going to my reciever, L/R. Then, I can use the reciever to plug headphones into - during recording. So, I can hit "mute all" in the control panel, and still have sound going out through OUT 3/4, into the headphones. Since I do NOT have a seperate control room, this is perfect because I can mute my monitors with one button click, and still hear the sound fine out of the headphones - for whoever is currently recording.

My ONLY real problem here is this:
Whatever is in the IN 1/2/3/4, CANNOT be heard in the HEADPHONES. The sound instead comes through the monitors (I assume because that is the only place where "monitor mixer" is available...and that is what it's set to. But, that does not help whoever is singing their vocals - because they have headphones on their ears, not my monitors! haha.
So I want the IN controls to be heard in the headphones, not the monitors.
This has to be able to get done with also leaving me able to control the volume of my monitors through the delta control panel. For example, right now I can only use the reciever's volume knob for headphone volume control - the output is contstant to the reciever for some reason.

IF ANYONE HAS ANYTHING TO HAVE ME TRY, I'M DOWN! hahah.

Now if that can be done, here's another thing i'd love to do..which I think should be able to happen if I can accomplish that first:
Guitarist plays along with drummer, but only the drummer gets recorded. Somehow have the drummer able to hear a click track that I provide through the computer, AND hear the guitarists guitar through his headphones....

but as I think about that some more, I think I need more INPUTS because I use all 4 for drum set of course......hmm any ideas at least? haha.

THANKS AGAIN!

K....here's what to do.
Route inputs to a bus, route bus to Delta 1010 output you want to be the headphone output.
So...input mic to track 1. Create a bus for track one to feed. This wil be bus A. Click the bus routing on track one so that the audio is feeding Bus A. Then instruct output of Bus A to feed Channels 7/8 of the Delta 1010. This will cause audio with FX on the track bus, to be routed to the headphones, but the FX won't be recorded to the HD, you'll only hear them over Bus A. Make sense?

that doesnt work! haha.
first - it's a delta 44 not a delta 1010.

But even replacing that 7/8 with 3/4, it doesn't work. The input mic wont be heard on 3/4 no matter WHAT i do! anything else to try?

Which drivers are you using? have you tried switching to Classic drivers?
scottshackrock wrote on 2/16/2004, 2:20 PM
the .0027 drivers.
(not the newest, because I had problems with them when they first came out, and there was no reason to switch).

in the M audio control panel, I can do this:

ROUTER HW OUT 3/4 to H/W in 1/2 - and then I will hear only the mic inputs 1/2 though, not what is playing in vegas...you know?

Have you created a bus in Vegas to send the audio to a second output? That's a requirement...haven't heard you mention any buses yet.

yep yep.

My bus is set to output 3/4.
BUT, since in the delta router my HW OUT 3/4 is set to HW IN 1/2, it ONLY plays the 1/2 INs. To get it to play what's coming from vegas, I gotta keep it set to WAV OUT 3/4.

should I have a "monitor inputs" option in VEGAS that I'm missing? I'm thinking this should be able to be solved with software, but I havn't found the key yet!! haha.

I can get it to work with OUTS 1/2, by the way. Because of the monitor mixer function. But it's more important that I am able to control the monitor's volume through the delta mixer (and for that, I MUST have monitor mixer selected and use it in conjunction with my monitors, aka outs 1/2).

arghghh!!
