Mono capture from DSR-45

I've just installed a Sony DSR-45 in my Vegas suite. Audio captures via firewire are mono (as in truly just one track, not two mono copies of each other). The tape is definitely two separate tracks and this is clearly evident on the meters and through the analog outs of the deck.
All the other decks and cameras I use havent had this problem via firewire. What am I missing?
I'm using Windows 2000 Professional, Vegas Video 3, Dell Pentium III.

Was the footage originally shot on a Sony PDX10 by chance?

Yes, it was shot on a PDX-10. I've just searched the archives regarding this PDX-10 issue. Is there a workaround yet other than using different capture software?
I was using the XLR adapter, taking a stereo feed from a Mackie 1402. Line level, manual control with the channels split but the volume controls linked. The camera and deck play back in stereo via the analog and headphone outs.
I haven't tried capturing directly from the camera yet. I can also try capturing via a DSR-390 camera. Those are the 3 DVCAM units I currently have available.
Thanks for the input.

We have a PDX10 in house and have not been able to figure out the mono issue you are encountering (Adobe, Avid and other apps have the same issue- pdx10 originated clips that were recorded with ext mics are mono when captured ). One would THINK there is a setting on the camera somewhere that would resolve this but I haven't found it. Sony camera engineers in Japan have been asked about this so when I hear back I'll post the answer (if there is one).
