I have heard that the text in vegas is fairly lacking, but is it at least possible to add more fonts? When i checked I only had 25 actual different fonts, and most of those very plain. Is it possible to import more?
You're mistaken. The numbers of fonts is determined by what YOU have on your system. SoFo provides no fonts, AFASIK however it will, like any Windows application access whatever fonts you have installed on your system. Windows comes with a handful. If you have Office, there's some more. If you have a graphics application like Corel, there's another few hundred or so, etc..
I just checked, Vegas accessed all 250 or so fonts I have installed.
Be aware many fonts won't look that good in video. I would avoid using the "fancy" ones except at large sizes otherwise they may look fuzzy, more so at very small sizes. You should be able to see what fonts you have from Control Panel in Windows.
Vegas can access True Type fonts, not Postscript fonts.
You should be able to access the TT fonts installed on your PC. Note those fonts you can access in WORD and those you can't in VV3. Now go and cross check your TT fonts list in VV3 against WIndows fonts manager: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Fonts. Those that are not truly TT will not be given house room in VV3.
You will see a huge list of your TT fonts and maybe others - yeah? Have a nice Sunday.
Ok, looks like i got it worked out. Though vegas wouldn't access all the fonts in my system, the overall problem was a general shortage of fonts. I downloaded a bunch of freeware fonts and now I have more than i know what to do with!
A post some while ago said that Vegas actually would handle Postscript fonts by some method, but that it was an undocumented and/or unsupported feature. Try a search at this forum and see, if you like.

Postscript fonts are now included in the Fonts list in DVD Architect (in 1.0a) and it would seem likely that they'll be available throughout Vegas before long.
Incidentally, in case anyone from Sonic Foundry is following this thread, bitmap fonts have now crept into the DVD Architect list even though they can't be used.
