More mpeg frustration

Recently downloaded VF 2.0b build 99 and installed. Registered the mainconcept mpeg plugin, rendered a 10 minute band video to mpeg, skipping the avi step, took about 2 1/2 hours to render. Rendered mpeg looks decent, went to burn VCD, Roxio burner programs sez "This mpg file not encoded compatible for VCD standard" or something like that. Plays on computer dvd drive but not on home unit. I guess I'll go back and try TMPG on the same project. I was planning on upgrading to VV3, but after reading the forums there many still have mpeg problems with the mainconcept mpg encoder packaged with VV3. Where to go from here? I just want to burn some decent VCDs and am getting tired of wasting a lot of time.

My advice is to give up and use the free tools to do it. Don't bother rendering to mpeg using VF either, just write your edited video back out to the same format so that it doesn't take so long and use something like TMPGenc to convert it to the proper mpeg VCD format. The results are better, and will take you 20 minutes instead of 2 1/2 hours, which is just inexcusable.

Yeah, will do. I have no complaints with VF as an editor, it works fine for what I do, but who needs the frustration.

I have burned many VCDs from both Vegas and VideoFactory, NO PROBLEMS. VCD render and burn really does work from either app-
