nothing does what vegas 4 does. Well, that's not true. Vegas 5 will do lots of the same stuff and more. :)

I am a pc user, hence a Vegas lover. Especially over Premiere. But, if you are a mac user Final Cut Pro is an outstanding product. If you are strictly pc, then Vegas is it as far as I'm concerned. At the price range of Vegas, it just can't be beat.

Of course, all products have growing pains as far as learning them.

Why are you asking, are in the maket for a NLE? If so you'll find that Vegas has more "pro's" then "con's".
I tried Premiere 6.0 demo that wow cool program (granted this was my firt shot at editing) So being the smart shopper I am, I looked around and found Vegas 3.0 demo. Played with both for a few days and just could not see how two programs that do the same thing could be so different. Vegas is so much smoother to work with! So at the time I could only afford Video Factory,$70. But my VV3 demo had 27 days left, so I kept playing. After a while I just couldn't stand it, I had to have the full VV3.
And that my friend is how it went with me, I have VV4+DVDa now and can't wait for 5 (lets see what can I sell next, anybody need a kid - cheap) Sure you can/could find "cheaper" NLE's but they look like something from a cartoon and do funny things like a cartoon.
Vegas = rock solid performance, bang for the buck and so on.
<hopping down off of SoNys shoulders now>
