Does anyone have an easy way within VMS or through another program to create the effect you see where the photo/video of one person morphs into another person? Is it as simple as some sort of a transition between photos or is there a better way?
Maybe the term "morphiing" is not really what I meant. Let's see if this describes it better. I want to recreate the effect where when transition between a photo ("say a headshot") of one person to another to another... the faces seem to "morph" from one person to the next. In other words, the picture of Bob "morphs" into the picture of Frank and then morphs into Joe, etc. Does that help at all or am I just confusing things more?
Then it does sound like you want a simple crossfade transition.
Do this, with your photo of Bob on the timeline, add Frank to the timeline but make the leading edge of Frank overlap Bob by 1-second, then add Joe so it overlaps Frank by 1-second. See if that gives you the effect you're looking for in the preview window. If you want the "morphing" to last longer, make the photos overlap more.
Even with your clarification, what you're seeking seems a bit ambiguous, because you continue to use the word 'morph', which has a specific meaning.
Let's try this approach:
If you want the features of one person in an image to subtly warp and change shape over time into the features of another person, that's a morph.
If you want the features of both people to remain distinct, but have one fade out while the other fades in, that's a crossfade.
As has been stated, a crossfade is a basic transition easily accomplished in your NLE, and there are freeware morphing programs available, such as the one already mentioned and Squrlz Morph .
See, I knew I could confuse things even more. I dont want to simply do a crossfade between still images. That is simple enough even I can handle it. I guess what I really do want apparently is a morph from one person to another to another. I looked briefly at the Winmorph page and it didn't look quite like what I was after but maybe I just need to play with it a little.
Thanks everyone for trying to make sense out of my gibberish. If I find the answer I will let folks know. If anybody has any other suggestions, please pass them along.
Far and away the best consumer morphing software out there is
Abrosoft's FantaMorph. The Deluxe version allows the multi-morph
of more than just two people, which you seem to want. Check their
site for examples.
