motion blurs not stereo compatible?

The motion blur envelope on on the video bus does not seem to be compatible with stereo 3D rendering. I've tried it with both the NewBlue Titler Pro and the Sony Pro Titler. Nor is the NewBlue motion blur plug-in stereo capable.

I am blurring a 3D motion track of a title from deep Z to just in front of the screen. The desired effect is the "drop from hyperspace" streak of a trailing motion blur that contracts to the object at deceleration. The motion blur should show true depth in stereo 3D.

When the motion blur envelope is on, the preview window shows only the left view. A stereo render to full frame s-b-s is a strange combination of the left view and a ghost view in red, which does not seem to be the right view, both of these superimposed on the right and left frames.

I should add that the Vegas motion blur envelope effect is pretty lame even in 2D.

As for the NewBlue effects and blends, I've yet to find one that works with a Vegas stereo camera setting. All the Z depth settings appear to be pseudo depth based on vanishing point convergence, not true depth modeling. This includes Titler Pro extrusion, which creates no true depth.

I have yet to try rendering out a stereo pair and applying motion blur to the render. Seems to me that would work, as the stereo camera separation would established already in the clip, instead of relying on interoperability between motion blur effects and the Vegas stereo camera.

If there is something I'm not doing right, advice is welcome. Thanks.

The only way I could get a motion blur envelope to work with a side by side clip was to turn the stereoscopic properties of the clip to OFF. The blur envelope is definitely producing stereo depth but it also makes the title disappear, with only the blur. Will have to composite blur and title.

Seems to me that this should not require workarounds, when Titler Pro is advertised as compatible with Vegas stereoscopic capabilities. My goodness, even Sony's own motion blur envelope does not work on a stereo clip in stereo mode.

Would be glad to be corrected on this!
