Yes you can make motion menus in DVDA.

Don't know about creating new templates - but you can create a shell of a project and copy it as many times as you want.

There is also a template editor available for download at:

http://www.briancbarnes.homestead.com

Go to this page, and you'll find a link at the bottom for downloading the utility.

bcbarnes, I've been trying for about 24 hours to download your softward but I keep getting this message:

Sorry, the site you requested is temporarily unavailable.

Due to high volume of traffic, this site is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later

Should I just keep trying or do you also have another site which I could use?

Thanx!

I've been able to download the file. I haven't actually *used* the SW yet
though - but I will this coming week. I just finished a DVD which I could
have used your SW for - I had to stick to simple text menus :^(

Thanx!

There's a PDF file on this Sony site that gives details on how to make templates for DVD-A with XML. XML itself isn't that hard to pick up. Its a step or two above HTML (what's commonly used for web pages) and you can edit it in Notpad even. Better using a decated XML editior of which there are many, some free you can find on the web.

Thep problem is its hardly worth the effort. Why? Because you're extremely limited in what you can change. Little more than the background which you can do in any image application then while there make fancy buttons if you like. Hopefully this area will be addressed in the next release.

Yeah, what I really want to be able to do is make custom frames.

For example, I wanted to have the background image be of my son's
soccer team, then have the frames be an outline of each boy on the team.
That way you just select which boy you want to see season highlights of
and away you go.

Simple, but effective. I couldn't do it this time (for other reasons and not just
because I couldn't make the custom frames). Next soccer season maybe :^)

Thanx,

Why don't you just make an image of each of the boys on the team and then make the image associated with the video that image of the boy?

You wouldn't be making a custom frame...you would use an image of the boy.

Or...if you wanted some video to play inside of an outline of the boy - use Vegas to create it (a little 30 second loop) - and then import this loop video as the thumbnail to associate to click to start the video.

I do stuff like that all the time.

What you are looking for is the "mouse over" from XHTML or JAVA and that different story. As kameron pointed just create chapters with the face of each player and animate it.With background of all team align the faces with players on background, but that can be difficult because DVDA will complain if you Overlap the menu.Try and see what happen.
Have a fun.
